Into Wilderness Tours
Experience Tanzania through the eyes of the people who call it home. Into Wilderness Tours was founded by Local Tanzanians who grew up close to the landscapes, wildlife and cultures that travelers come here to experience. We design this company to offer journeys that feel authentic, seamless and deeply memorable, not rushed, crowded or generic. Whether you dream of witnessing the Great Migration, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, meeting Maasai communities or unwinding on Zanzibar's beaches, we design each itinerary around the people taking it.
We would rather lose a booking than send someone to the wrong park in the wrong month.
Most of what separates a good safari from a disappointing one is decided before anyone leaves home: which park, which month, how many nights in one place. Those decisions are ours to get right, which is why our pages tell you when not to come.
We are based in Arusha, so the people planning your trip know the roads, camps and guides personally, and hear about changes the week they happen.
We work directly with the camps we use rather than through a bed bank, take no placement fees, and are not owned by a lodge group, which is why we sometimes recommend the cheaper option.
The rest is unglamorous: answering messages within a day and building itineraries with enough time in each place to actually arrive.

01 / How we plan
The Month Decides the Park
Tanzania is not one destination and its seasons do not align. We start from your dates and work outward — which is why two people asking for “the Serengeti” in February and August get completely different itineraries.
02 / Our guides
The Single Biggest Variable
A good guide changes a trip more than any lodge upgrade. Ours are salaried rather than commission-driven, which means nobody is steering you toward a shop. We match guides to trips — family, photographic, birding — rather than assigning whoever is free.
03 / How we price
No Placement Fees
We hold direct contracts with the camps we use and take no commission for putting you in one over another. Where a cheaper property is the better choice for your dates, that is what we will recommend.
04 / What we refuse

Yes. We are based in Arusha and Tanzanian-owned, which matters more than it sounds: the people planning your trip drive these roads, know these camps and hear about changes the week they happen rather than at the end of a season.
Yes. Into Wilderness Tours Limited holds Tourism Agent License No. 037327 (TALA) and is registered with the Tanzania Revenue Authority under TIN 179-168-642. It is worth checking licence numbers for any operator you consider, not just us.
Yes for the northern circuit, where our vehicles and salaried guides handle every trip. In the southern and western parks, where trips are flown rather than driven, we work with a small number of long-standing partner camps and their guiding teams.
Someone answers the phone, twenty-four hours a day while you are travelling. Vehicles break down and flights move — what matters is how quickly it is fixed, and that is a function of being local rather than of any promise on a website.
The village guides on our day trips are paid at community rates and the fees go directly to the associations rather than through us. On Kilimanjaro we pay above KPAP guideline porter rates. We would rather show you the mechanism than make a broad claim.
For a single camp, sometimes you should not — and we will say so. What we add is the chain: the right park for your month, transfers that connect, park fees handled, and one person to call when something changes.
